As kids, we hear the word “No” constantly from other people. But when we become adults, it’s easy to get into the habit of “No” to ourselves. Why is that? It’s because we’re often afraid or stuck in a rut.

I’m thrilled to have a guest today who will help you stop saying “No” to all life has to offer, and instead begin saying YES to the possibilities. She is an award-winning director, including being awarded Top Director of 2019 by the International Association of International Professionals, Best Comedy from the Vancouver WebFest for Directing Sublets, and A Golden Thumb Award from Roger Ebert for her work on John Turturro’s Romance and Cigarettes. In addition, Tricia has also won six awards, including Best Documentary Short from the Olympus Film Festival, for her short documentary Right Livelihood: A Journey to Here, which now qualifies for an Academy Award! Her work has been featured on shows such as Black Box for ABC, The Affair for Showtime, and Rescue Me on FOX. She has worked with Kate Winslet, Susan Sarandon, Eddie Izzard, Christopher Walken, Steve Buscemi, and the late James Gandolfini.Tricia is committed to producing and directing stories that inspire, entertain, uplift, and foster an exchange of ideas. As the Executive Producer of  Speakers Who Dare, and former Executive Producer of TEDxLincolnSquare, she curates the top speakers in the country, and her production company, The Big Talk Productions, shoots documentary shorts on the thought leaders making an impact on our world.I first got to know Tricia through our mutual friend Bob Burg, and I’ve been writing show notes for her excellent podcast, The Big Talk, which is the best public speaking podcast out there (if I do say so myself).

In our conversation, we touch on a variety of topics, including Tricia’s journey through dance and theater to public speaking, how to deal with failure, the importance of mindset and confidence, first steps to take in becoming a public speaker, and much more.
