Adaptive Fashion Can Fulfill the Dreams of the Disabled
Today’s show is another in a series of bonus episodes each featuring one of the phenomenal talks given by my participants in The Big Talk Academy as a part of our Virtual Showcase. This showcase is the culmination of their hard work as they cross the finish line to become certified speakers.
These episodes give you a peek behind the scenes to witness the amazing Big Talks presented and also give you exclusive access to my live feedback and the direction I give to each speaker immediately following their performances.
This week’s episode features Dona Edwards and her talk, Adaptive Fashion Can Fulfill the Dreams of People with Disabilities.
Dona Edwards has worked in the legal field for over 20 years, most recently in-house at corporations as an Executive and Senior Counsel. She was responsible for driving the global intellectual property strategy, including protecting and monetizing innovations, developing a legal department, managing litigations, and providing general legal advice and counsel.
In this compelling and thought-provoking talk, Dona Edwards shares how fashionable adaptive clothing and shoes have the unique potential to fulfill the dreams of the disabled.
In this talk, she explores:
- Her dreams and passion for fashion, and the journey that led her there
- Her life-long challenges with scoliosis and the difficulties of dressing after major spinal fusion surgery
- The unique opportunity the fashion industry has to create a culture of inclusion, belonging, and empathy for people who are disabled
- Designing fashionable adaptive clothing and shoes for people with disabilities
