The Power of Music in Education Systems
Today’s show is another in a series of bonus episodes each featuring one of the incredible talks given by my participants in The Big Talk Academy as a part of our Virtual Showcase. This showcase is the culmination of their hard work as they cross the finish line to become certified speakers.
These episodes give you a peek behind the scenes to witness the amazing Big Talks presented and also give you exclusive access to my live feedback and the direction I give to each speaker immediately following their performances.
This week’s episode features Wendy Christie and her talk, Michelangelo’s Missive.
Wendy trained as a pianist in her early years, before realizing how the power of words can transform and shape others in the way music can transform and move an audience. Currently living and working at one of New Zealand’s finest locations among the plains and alpine regions of the south island, Wendy has sought opportunities to speak about the power of music in education systems often founded on economic interests, in New Zealand and around the world.
In her moving talk, Wendy shares how the power of music education is often too easily overlooked for its ability to empower the inner lives of children.
In this talk, she explores:
- The experience of her first big piano performance
- How music impacts the lives of children
- The failings of the current education system
- The impact you can make by using your voice
